ABILENE, Texas- Howard Payne University men's soccer team lost a thrilling game 2-5 against McMurry Saturday afternoon in conference play at Wilford Moore field.
The first half starting off slow with the War Hawks scoring the first goal of the game in the 15th minute of the match.
Yellow Jacket,
Adolfo Rodriguez was able to get a header into the goal in the 27th minute of the match off a
Zachary Moreno cross from the left. The War Hawks were able to score once more before the half, ending the first half at 1-2.
Howard Payne trailed not far behind in stats for the match 13-17 in total shots (4-11 shots on goals) and 2-6 in corner kicks.
The War Hawks were able to score three more times in the second half. Yellow Jacket, Alejandra was able to score his first goal of the season off of a free kick, ending the second half and match 2-5.
Howard Payne is now 3-8-0 in the season and 2-6-0 in American Southwest Conference play, while McMurry is 4-8-3 overall. The Yellow Jackets play at home next Saturday, October 20th at 3:30 P.M. against Sul Ross State University at Citizens National Bank Field. It will be senior day.
