BROWNWOOD, Texas- Howard Payne University men's soccer team won 1-0 in a suspenseful game against Sul Ross State University this Sunday at Gordon Wood Stadium. 
The Yellow Jackets started the game off determined finding the back of the net in the 10th minute of that first half, it was HPU freshman 
Spencer Lyon's first goal of his American Southwest Conference career. The Lobos were unable to connect any of their seven shots of the half. Ending the first half HPU 1-0 lead. 
The Yellow Jackets played a very tight defense going into the second half, racking up 13 fouls, 16-10 fouls throughout the game. The Lobos were able to get off four shots on goal, two being in the first eight minutes of the half.

Andrew Hackney was a colossal part of today's win, with six saves, earning HPU the 1-0 shutout win against Sul Ross. 
Howard Payne fell short against the Lobos in total shots 13-11 in the match (7-4 shots on goals) and 1-3 corner kicks throughout the game.  
Howard Payne is now 4-8-0 overall and 3-6-0 in ASC play, while Sul Ross is now 2-11-0 overall. The Yellow Jackets will travel to Longview, Texas Thursday, October 25th, to play at 7:30 P.M. against LeTourneau University at the Joyce Family Athletic Village.
