BROWNWOOD, Texas- Howard Payne University men's soccer team experienced a tough overtime loss against the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor 1-2 at Citizens National Bank Field Saturday afternoon.

Ricardo Pierce was able to get a pass in front of the goal to teammate
Michael Westerman for an easy tap in to an empty goal, putting HPU on the board in the 10th minute of the match.
Yellow Jackets play a tight defense able to hold off UHMB for the rest of the first half, leaving the score 1-0 at the break.
Both teams came back into the game determined, racking up nine fouls before HPU's lead was broke. The Cru was able to score their first goal of the game in the 67th minute, ending regulation with a tie of 1-1.

Reid Longabaugh had an opportunity for the win in the second minute of OT. But UMHB came back just a minute later with a goal to win the game 1-2.
Howard Payne is now 3-5-0 overall and 2-4-0 overall, while UMHB is now 9-3-0 overall. Yellow Jackets will hit the road next Thursday, October 11th for a 7:30 pm game against Hardin-Simmons University at Cazzons Field in Abilene.
