PINEVILLE, Louisiana - The Howard Payne University football team ended its 2018 season with a 45-13 loss to Louisiana College Saturday afternoon.
Howard Payne tallied 362 yards (298 passing) of total offense but Louisiana College would post 750 yards (400 passing) of total offense in the game.Â
DunTayviun Gross led the HPU offense with 13 catches for 106 yards and a touchdown. It was his second consecutive 100+ receiving yard game, third of the season.Â
Down 28-0 at the half, the Jackets took their opening drive of the second half 71 yards for a TD. The drive was capped by a
Kaidrion Latson one-yard TD run with 11:15 left in the third quarter (Gonzalez extra point was blocked)
Late in the third,
Gage McClanahan found
DunTayviun Gross on a six-yard TD reception capping a seven play 66 yard drive ending with :55 seconds left in the third.
HPU's Latson had 33 yards rushing on nine carries and one touchdown. McClanahan was 27 of 38 passing for 298 yards, one TD, and two interceptions.
Thomas Williams finished with four catches for 80 yards.
Austin Killgore led the HPU defense with eight tackles, 2.5 for loss and one sack.
Anthony Lindsey also had eight tackles along with a pass breakup.
Connor Day followed with seven tackles.
The Jackets finish the season at 1-9 overall and 1-8 in American Southwest Conference play. Louisiana College finishes 5-5 overall anf 4-5 in ASC action.
