SHREVEPORT, Louisiana - Howard Payne University's Shadd Cole scored a career high 29 points in a 73-71 Yellow Jacket victory at Centenary College Thursday evening.

With Howard Payne trailing 71-70, HPU's Timothy Aguero found Thomas Bingham for the layup and the foul with 2 seconds remaining in the game. Bingham's free-throw gave the Jackets the 73-71 win.

Howard Payne would shot 56% from the field in the game while holding Centenary to just 37.7% shooting. The Gents stayed in the game by forcing 23 HPU turnovers and committing just 11 themselves.

With the Jackets leading 32-27 at the halftime break, HPU's Shadd Cole would score 18 of his 29 points in the second half to help hold off the Centenary late push.

Following Shadd Cole's career high 29 points was Thomas Bingham with 12 points and 8 rebounds Talen Davis had 8 points and a game high 10 rebounds. Timothy Aguero dished out a career high nine assists.

Centenary was led by Treylan Matthews and Jericho Gray with 14 points each.

Howard Payne is now 1-6 overall on the year and Centenary stands at 1-6 overall. The Jackets will have their home opener on Saturday at 3:00 pm versus UT Dallas in the Brownwood Coliseum.
