BROWNWOOD, Texas – The Howard Payne University men's basketball team dropped an American Southwest Conference basketball game 74-62 against Belhaven University on Saturday afternoon at the Brownwood Coliseum.
Despite out rebounding Belhaven 42-35, the Yellow Jackets committed 16 turnovers to Belhaven's eight. For the game, Howard Payne shot 42.1% in the game versus 44.1% from Belhaven.

Down 29-27 at the half, the Jackets would take the lead on a
Brad Erskin layup making the score 35-33 with 16:21 remaining in the game. HPU jumped out to a 43-42 lead with 13:11 remaining in the game, but fell behind and could not regain the lead.
Howard Payne was led by
Eliajah Pruitt with a career high 17 points.
Thomas Bingham recorded a double-double as he posted 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Cole Bene' finished with nine points and eight rebounds.
Evan Adkins finished with eight points.
Belhaven was led by Rick Hodum with 17 points. Laramie Long followed with 13 points in the contest.
Howard Payne is now 2-10 overall and 1-4 in ASC play. Belhaven moves to 2-6 overall and 1-3 in ASC play. The Yellow Jackets will return to the court on Friday, December 21 as they will take on Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas at 7:00 pm. You can watch the game on ESPN3.
