SAN MARCOS, Texas - The Howard Payne University men's basketball team fell 105-29 in an exhibition game versus D-I Texas State University Saturday evening.
For the game, Texas State forced 33 Howard Payne turnovers while out rebounding the Yellow Jackets 47-30.Â
With Howard Payne leading 5-3 to start the game, Texas State went on an 11-0 run to lead 14-5 with 13 minutes remaining in the first period. The Bobcats never looked back from there holding a 47-14 advantage at the halftime break.
Howard Payne was led by
Shadd Cole with seven points followed by
Javaris Jones with five points. Tim Aguero led HPU at the free-throw line going 3 of 4 and also grabbing a team high five rebounds.
Nijal Pearson and Tre Nottingham each led Texas State with 22 points.
The Yellow Jackets will be in action next on Thursday, Jan. 3rd at the University of the Ozarks in Clarksville, AR at 7:30 pm before playing the University of Texas at Tyler on Saturday, Jan. 5th.
