BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne University men's basketball team won the free-throw game in a 82-77 American Southwest Conference victory Thursday evening in the Brownwood Coliseum.
Howard Payne would shot 24 more free-throw in the game than Concordia going 26 of 41 (63.4%) at the line. While Concordia was just 10 of 17 from the line in the game.Â
The Yellow Jackets held a 48-43 advantage at the break and would need to fight back from a 10-point deficit withe 4:48 left in the game. HPU then outscored the Tornados 19-4 to close out the game.
HPU's
Khyce Randall scored 16 of his 29 points in the second half. Randall finished the game 11 of 15 from the line and was 8 of 17 from the field with six rebounds and three assists.
Timothy Aguero added 15 points and four assists for HPU.
Thomas Bingham pulled down a game high 11 rebounds.
Concordia was led by Phillip Meikle with 16 points followed by Ephrian Prince with 15.Â
Howard Payne University is now 10-14 overall and 6-10 in American Southwest Conference action. Concordia falls to 15-9 overall and 9-7 in league play. The Jackets will finish out the regular season at home on Saturday at 4:00 pm versus Mary Hardin-Baylor.
