BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne University women's tennis team matched up with non-conference opponent Austin College Friday evening and fell 8-1.
In a match played at Brownwood High School, the Lady Jackets had a solid outing versus the Roos of Austin College despite the many newcomers to the team for Howard Payne.
Howard Payne's number one doubles team of
Erin Blanchard and
Erin McCleer held early advantage but would fall 8-6 in the end.
Breanna Hunt and
Chesney Goza lost 8-4 in number two doubles and
Rosie Cadena and
Cheyanne Lovelady lost 8-3 in number three doubles.
Chetanne Lovelady picked up the only team point for HPU on the day defeating Summer Willig 8-2 in the number six singles match.
Rosie Cadena also played well losing in three sets 6-2, 3-6, 10-6 in number five singles play.
Howard Payne is 1-5 overall on the year and Austin College is 1-0 to start the season. The Jackets will play the University of the Ozarks on Sat., Feb 10th in Austin, Texas at 10:00 am.
