BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne University men's tennis team fell 9-0 in its conference opener against the University of Texas at Dallas Wednesday at the Nabers Tennis Center.

Howard Payne dropped all three doubles points to start the match, 8-0, 8-0 and 8-1.

Despite falling in all singles matches, HPU's Gabe Benitez played solid in number one singles. Benitez lost 6-1, 6-4 to  Mario Jelev of Texas Dallas. 

Howard Payne is now 1-12 overall and 0-1 in American Southwest Conference West Division action. UT Dallas is now 5-1 overall and 2-0 in league play. Howard Payne will play next at home on Saturday, March 24th versus Texas Lutheran at 9:00 am and Colorado Christian University at 1:00 pm.
