BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne University women's tennis team narrowly fell 5-4 to Texas Lutheran University and 5-4 to Colorado Christian University this weekend in non-conference action at the Nabers Tennis Center.
TLU Match
The Lady Jackets started the match strong taking two of the three doubles points.
Erin McCleer and
Breanna Hunt won 8-4 in number two doubles and
Rosie Cadena and
Cheyanne Lovelady won 8-1 in number three doubles.
Erin Blanchard won 6-2, 6-3 in number three singles. But the match that would have gave the Lady Jackets the win was
Erin McCleer felling in a three set thriller in number one singles 6-4, 4-6, 12-10.
CCU Match
Again the Lady Jackets started the match taking two of three doubles points. In number on doubles,
Erin Blanchard and
Chesney Goza won 8-6 and
Rosie Cadena and
Cheyanne Lovelady won 9-8 (7-1) in number three doubles.
Chesney Goza won 6-0, 6-3 in number two singles for the Lady Jackets third team point. In a number six singles it was
Cheyanne Lovelady winning 7-6 (7-3), 6-2.
Howard Payne is now 3-11 overall and will play next on April 6th at home versus McMurry University starting at 1:00 pm.
