BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne University women's tennis team fell 9-0 to conference opponent McMurry University Friday afternoon at the Nabers Tennis Center.

Despite the 9-0 outcome, the Lady Jackets were very competitive nearly picking up the number one double point and competing well in number two and three doubles.

Chesney Goza and Erin Blanchard narrowly fell 9-7 in number one doubles and the Lady Jackets would drop two and three doubles 8-4.

In singles play, it was Erin Blanchard who took her opponent to a third set in number three singles falling 4-6, 6-3, 10-7.

Howard Payne is now 3-12 overall and 0-1 ASC play while McMurry stands at McMurry University 7-5 overall and 1-0 league action. Howard Payne will play Hardin-Simmons on Saturday at the Nabers Tennis Center.
