CONWAY, Arkansas- The Howard Payne University men's soccer team claimed a 2-1 victory this afternoon against Hendrix College at the Warrior's Soccer Field. 

The Yellow Jackets prevailed in shots over the Warriors 22-2, along with 12-0 lead in corner kicks. Reid Longabaugh led the team with a total of five shots, three of which coming in the first half. The first half ended tied at 0-0. 

With the first period ending in a 0-0 tie, HPU's Ricardo Pierce scored the Jackets' first goal in the 47 minute of the second half. Pierce was able to get a header into the goal on an assist from Dylan Person, Pierce's first goal of the season. 

Spencer Lyon was able to get his first goal of the season towards the end of the game in the 78 minute, leading the Yellow Jackets to win the match 2-1.

This was the first win of the season for the Yellow Jackets, now 1-1-0 . Hendrix College now stands 2-2 overall. The Yellow Jackets will play here at home this Thursday at 4:30 P.M. against the University of Texas at Tyler. All home matches are played at Citizens National Bank Field and admission is free.
