PINEVILLE, Louisiana – Howard Payne University's Michael Westerman scored on a penalty kick in overtime to give the HPU men's soccer team a 1-0 victory on the road against the Louisiana College Wildcats Saturday afternoon.

Senior Yellow Jacket Michael Westerman was able to score the team's game winning goal off of a penalty kick just 43 seconds into the overtime period. All three of Westerman's goals this season have been off penalty kicks.

Starting later than planned due to a rain delay in the women's match, The Yellow Jackets went on to lead in total shots 23-8 and corner kicks 9-3 throughout the game. 

Reid Longabaugh led the Yellow Jackets with eight shots and four shots on goal, a new career high. 

Howard Payne is now 3-3-0 overall and 2-1-0 in conference play, Louisiana college is now 2-6-0 overall. The Yellow Jackets will play at home on Saturday September 29th at 4:30 P.M. against University of Texas At Dallas at Citizens National Bank Field.
