PINEVILLE, Louisiana - The Howard Payne University woman's soccer team receive the victory over Louisiana College 3-0 Saturday afternoon after an hour lighting delay on the road.

Powered by outshooting Louisiana College 19-12 overall and 9-5 in shots on goal, the Lady Jackets improved to 2-0-1 in American Southwest Conference action with the victory over the Wildcats.

Kaitlyn Harrison got the game started in the 14th minute scoring HPU's first goal of the game. Harrison was able to side swipe the ball into the goal, after receiving the pass from Dayane Gutierrez.
The Lady Jackets able to hold the Wildcats, ending the first half 1-0. 

Lady Jacket Lesly Garcia broke away from a defender to get a shot off, being blocked by the Wildcats goalie, with the ball falling back for an easy tap-in for Garcia in the 54th minute of the game. Garcia recorded a career high of five shots and three shots on goal in the game.

Brittany Cortez scored the final HPU goal in the 87th minute of the game on a rebound shot off the post from Mariah Gonzales. It was Cortez's first goal of the season. 

Howard Payne is now 2-4-1 overall and 2-0-1 in conference play, Louisiana College is now 1-5-0 overall. The Lady Jackets will play their next game at home Saturday September 29th  against the University of Texas at Dallas at 2:00 P.M. at Citizens National Bank Field.
