SEGUIN, Texas- The Howard Payne University men's soccer team fell to the Texas Lutheran University Bulldogs late this afternoon at Gustafson Field to open the 2018 regular season.

The Yellow Jackets defense was able to hold off the Bulldogs in the first half, down 2-0 at the break. However, in the 57 minute, the Yellow Jackets start to fall short allowing two back-to-back goals.

The Jackets were outshot 20-13 overall and 15-7 in shots on goal in the match. The Bulldogs played very physical recording four yellow cards.

Michael Western lead the Jackets in shots with two and two on goals, with the Yellow Jackets ending the game with 13 shots and seven shots on goal.

This lost was the first of the season for the Yellow Jackets, now 0-1-0. Texas Lutheran now stands 1-1-0 in the season. The Yellow Jackets will play on the road this Friday with a 4:00 P.M. match against Hendrix College in Round Rock, Texas.
