BROWNWOOD, Texas – The 2018 Howard Payne University football looks to get the season off to a great start taking on George Fox University Saturday, September 8th in Newburg, Oregon.
 
The Yellow Jackets, who finished 1-9 overall last season under first year head coach Braxton Harris, have had over 100 newcomers added to the program including over 15 transfers since last season. The 113th edition of Howard Payne football looks to build on what Coach Harris and his staff are installing.
 
Fifth year program George Fox University finished 7-3 overall in 2017 under head coach Chris Casey. The Bruins dropped their season opener at the University of the Redlands last week 20-12.
 
"George Fox is in their fifth year as a upstart program and they are where we want to be with our players," said head coach Braxton Harris. "Our kids are looking forward to that type of success."
 
The Yellow Jackets will depart on Friday for the 3:00 pm central (1:00 pm pacific) kickoff time on Saturday.

Coach Harris added, "We are excited for this opportunity for our program, it has been 14 years since the Yellow Jacket football has taken a trip like this. It is a great step in a positive direction and a great experience for our student-athletes."
