BROWNWOOD, Texas- The Howard Payne University women's soccer team fell 2-1 after two late Hardin-Simmons University goals Thursday afternoon at Citizens National Bank Field.
Despite being outshot 29-1 in the match, the Lady Jackets did make the one shot count, Netting the first goal of the match was HPU's
Heaven Rossette finding the back of the goal in the 64th minute.
Kara Moore was credited with the assist, making the score 1-0.
Hardin-Simmons would tie the game in the 85th minute of the half, and eventually take the lead with less than a minute left in the match. A 2-1 Hardin-Simmons final.
Delaney Castor played the full 90 minutes in the net for Howard Payne, recording 14 saves.
Howard Payne is now 6-8-1 overall and 2-5-0 in American Southwest Conference action, while Hardin-Simmons is now 10-2-1 overall and 7-0 in league play. The Lady Jackets will play a 1:00 pm match against McMurry University on Saturday Oct. 19th at Citizens National Bank field. The HPU seniors will be recognized after the match.
