BROWNWOOD, Texas- The Howard Payne University's women's soccer team ended the match against McMurry University in a 1-1 tie after double overtime earlier this afternoon during senior day at Citizens National Bank Field.

McMurry was able to score the first goal of the match in the 14th minute of the first half, ending the first half with the 1-0 advantage.

Lady Jacket Lesly Garcia was able to find the back of the net in the 79th minute of the second half on an assist from Heaven Rossette, tying the game at 1-1.

HPU fell behind 22-18 in total shots and 12-9 in shots on goal. Yellow Jacket forward Kara Moore lead the team with eight shots and four shots on goal.

McMurry led in shots throughout the extended time 5-4 with the teams eventually ending in a 1-1 tie.

Goalkeeper Delaney castor played the full 110 minutes in the goal for HPU, recording 11 saves and allowing only one goal.

Howard Payne is now 6-8-2 overall and 2-5-1 in American Southwest Conference action, while McMurry is now 10-1-6 overall and 5-1-2 in conference play. The Lady Jackets will hit the road this Thursday Oct. 19th to play a 5:00 pm match against LeTourneau University in Longview, Texas.
