Howard Payne, despite falling behind in total shots to LeTourneau 25-5 and 11-2 in shots on goal, only needed one to claim the 1-0 conference victory.
After
Delaney Castor stopped a penalty kick in the 49th minute, the Lady Jackets used one of their two shots on goal in the match to net the game winning at the 84 minute mark.
Lesly Garcia scored her sixth goal of the season on an assist by
Jayde Miyamoto.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Delaney Castor played the full 90 minutes for HPU, saving an 89th minute shot from LETU in the bottom center of the goal to secure the 1-0 win for HPU, recording 11 saves overall. Lady Jacket
Madelynn James led HPU with two shots and one shot on goal.
HPU is now 7-8-2 overall and 3-5-1 in American Southwest Conference action, while LETU is now 8-6-1 overall and 4-4-1 in conference play. The Lady Jackets will hit the road on Saturday Oct. 26th to play in a 5:00 pm match against East Texas Baptist University in Marshall, Texas.
