Box Score MARSHALL, Texas- The Howard Payne University women's soccer team earned a 2-1 victory in double overtime with a Mariah Gonzales header against East Texas Baptist University earlier this afternoon.

Sophomore Mariah Gonzales was able to get off the game winning shot during the 104th minute in the second overtime making the header off of a corner kick assist from Kara Moore.

Lady Jacket Kara Moore scored her seventh goal of the season off of a penalty kick taken in the 33rd minute of the of the match, to give HPU a 1-0 lead at the half.

Howard Payne fell behind in 16-12 in total shots throughout regulation, ETBU got its only goal in the 85th minute of the second half, ending regulation with a 1-1 tie.

Howard Payne Goalkeeper Delaney Castor played the full 104 minutes in the goal, recording eight saves. Kara Moore, Marisah Mata and Katie Burnside each recorded three shots for Howard Payne.

Howard Payne is now 8-8-2 overall and 4-5-2 in American Southwest Conference play, while East Texas Baptist is now 7-9-1 overall and 4-6-0 in conference action. The Lady Jacket will head to Alpine this Friday, Nov 1st to play in a 1:00 pm match against Sul Ross State University.
