MARSHALL, Texas - The Howard Payne University football team was led by Billy Reagins' four touchdowns in a 41-35 loss at East Texas Baptist University Saturday afternoon in American Southwest Conference action.

Howard Payne outscored ETBU 21-13 in the second half to pull within six during the fourth quarter. The Yellow Jackets had a couple of opportunities to tie up the game but would be unable to stop the Tigers as they ran out the clock in the final minutes.

HPU's Billy Reagins scored four TDs on 11 carries for 43 yards. In his first start at QB for the Jackets, McGwire Martin had 16 carries for 136 yards, he was also 15 of 27 passing for 134 yards and one TD.

Jalen Parker led the HPU receiving crew with six catches for 64 yards and one TD. DunTayviun Gross had three catches and six kickoff and punt returns for 106 yards with a 71 yard punt return as a high.

HPU's Austin Killgore led all tacklers with 13 total, seven solo, 1.5 for loss. Brady Wade and Michael Davis each recorded a sack with Wade adding a blocked kick.

Martin added to his QB numbers five punts for 239 yards (47.8), three inside the 20 yard line and a long of 59 yards.

The Yellow Jackets are now 2-5 overall and 1-5 in conference play. ETBU stands at 4-3 overall and 4-2 in league action. Howard Payne will have its homecoming game next Saturday at 4:00 pm versus Sul Ross State University.
