JACKSON, Miss. - The Howard Payne University women's soccer team fell 2-1 to Belhaven University in league action Thursday evening on the road.
Despite being outshot 32-11 in the match, Howard Payne was able to make it a close outing with Belhaven. Shots on goal would be closer with Belhaven leading 10-6.

Katie Burnside netted her first goal as a Lady Jacket in the 31st minute to tie the match 1-1.
Belhaven would take the lead in the 78th minute and eventually the match 2-1.

Kara Moore each finished with two shots on goal for the Lady Jackets.
Delaney Castor recorded eight saves in the start in goal for the Lady Jackets.
Howard Payne is now 4-6-1 overall and 0-3-0 in American Southwest Conference action. Belhaven stands at 6-4-1 overall and 1-2-0 in league play. The Lady Jackets will play next on Saturday at Louisiana College in Pineville, LA. It will be a 12:00 noon start time.
