Strong 2nd Period Leads To 2-1 Win

PINEVILLE, LA- The Howard Payne University women's soccer team earned a 2-1 victory over Louisiana College with a strong second period performance earlier this afternoon.

The Lady Jackets outshot the Louisiana College Wildcats 16-8 in shots and 10-4 in shots on goals in the match. Freshman midfielder/forward Kara Moore led HPU in the match with seven shots and five shots on goals.

The Wildcats were able to get onto the board in the 12 minute of the game, making the score 1-0 in the first half of the match.

Moore was able to find the back of the net in the 55 minute of the second half to tie the match. Just minutes later, teammate Kaegan Sims gave HPU the game winner in the 58th minute ending with the 2-1 conference victory.

Lady Jacket goalkeeper Delaney Castor played the full 90 minutes in the net for HPU, recording three saves.

Howard Payne is now 5-6-1 overall and 1-3-0 in American Southwest Conference action. Louisiana College is now 1-7-1 overall and 0-3-0 in league play. The Lady Jackets will play on the road next Thursday, Oct 10th in a 5:00 pm start time against the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.
