Jackets Roll War Hawks 76-63

BROWNWOOD, Texas - Howard Payne University's Luke Cox scored a game and season high 15 points off the bench for the Yellow Jackets in a 76-63 conference victory over McMurry University Thursday evening.

Howard Payne shot 50.8% from the field in the game, 60.7% in the second half, and forced 21 McMurry turnovers to control the game. The Yellow Jackets also dominated the paint outscoring the War Hawks by 12 in points in the paint.

Seven minutes into the game, Howard Payne put together an 11-0 run and went on to hold a 35-28 advantage at the break. The Jackets would slowly build their lead to as much as 20 in the second half on the way to the 76-63 final.

Luke Cox gave a huge spark off the bench for the Jackets scoring 15 points on 5 of 8 shooting from three-point range. Shadd Cole had one of his best all around games ever as a Jacket with 14 points, nine rebounds, five assist and five steals. Thomas Bingham and Cole Bene' each grabbed seven rebounds.

McMurry was led by Mike Williams with 13  and Isaac Moreno wit 11 points.

 Howard Payne is now 4-18 overall and 2-11 in American Southwest Conference play. McMurry is 9-14 overall and 6-8 in league action. The Jackets will play their final home game of the season this Saturday at 3:00 pm versus Hardin-Simmons University.
