BROWNWOOD- Howard Payne University's
Alexis Sullivan hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh to give HPU a 7-5 walkoff victory over McMurry University Friday afternoon at Lady Jacket Field.
The Lady Jackets outhit the War Hawks 10-8, but it was five HPU fielding errors that kept the game close for the War Hawks.
Howard Payne was able to get on the board in the bottom of the third inning, after a double into center field from
Aurora Luera brought home teammate
Ragen Noriega.
After four unanswered runs by the War Hawks, Lady Jacket
Emily Martinez was able to hit a homerun scoring
Haley Slater to make the score 4-3. It was Martinez' fourth homer of the year.
HPU continued to trail 5-3 entering the bottom of the seventh inning when the Lady Jackets put together a string of hits ending in anÂ
Alexis Sullivan two run homerun over the field wall in left field, winning the game 7-5. It was Sullivan's fifth home run of the season.

Brianna Luna led off the seventh with a base hit and next a
Melinda Mendoza triple to right center scored Luna. After a
Aurora Luera pop up, a
Tonya Thompson single plated Mendoza to tie the game 5-5.
Tia Campos started on the mound this afternoon, holding the War Hawks scoreless for the first three innings of the game.
Gabrielle Roque came in to relief Campos at the top of the fourth inning, allowing four runs off of five hits.
Audrey Simpson also saw time in the circle for two innings throughout the game.
Tia Campos reentered the game for the Lady Jackets, allowing one hit, no runs, earning two strike outs and recording the win for the HPU.
Howard Payne is now 15-20 overall and 11-13 in American Southwest Conference play, and the War Hawks are now 13-22 overall and 8-16 In conference play. The Lady Jackets will hit the road next week on Friday April 26th to play Concordia University Texas in a double header starting at 3 P.M. in Austin, Texas.
