Box Score 1 IRVING, Texas- The Howard Payne University woman's soccer team picked up a 1-0 victory against the University of Dallas this afternoon to open the 2019 regular season.
On Sunday after one half, HPU claimed a 1-0 forfeit win over the University of Wisconsin- Superior.
In the HPU match with UDallas, Lady Jacket
Lesly Garcia scored the game winning goal in the 46th minute of the second half.
Despite being outshot 17-11 overall and 11-3 in shots on goal in the match, the Lady Jacket defense stood strong. HPU's
Rayden Hicks had five saves in the start as keeper in the first half and
Delaney Castor recorded six saves playing in goal in the second period for the Lady Jackets.
On Sunday versus UW-Superior, Howard Payne held a 1-0 advantage on a
Jayde Miyamoto first half goal. UW-Superior then forfeited at the half giving the Lady Jackets the victory.
Howard Payne starts the 2019 season at 2-0-0. The Yellow Jackets will play at home on Friday, September 6th versus Texas Lutheran University atÂ
