BROWNWOOD, Texas- The Howard Payne University woman's soccer team fell to the Southwestern University Pirates 1-0 in a defensive filled first half Tuesday afternoon at Citizens National Bank Field.
With the Howard Payne defense holding Southwestern scoreless in the first period, the Pirates were able to find the back of the net for their only goal of the game in the 50th minutes.
The Lady Jackets had opportunities but fell behind 22-12 in total shots, and 6-16 in shots on goals. HPU FreshmanÂ
Marisah Mata led the team with three shots, while
Kelsey Bunch lead with two shots on goals.

Delaney Castor played the full 90 minutes for HPU, recording 15 saves and allowing just the one goal.
Howard Payne is now 2-2-1 overall in the season, while Southwestern is now 4-0 in the year. The Lady Jackets will go up against Southwestern Assemblies of God University in a 4:00 pm match on Saturday, Sep 14th at Citizens National Bank Field.
