BROWNWOOD- The Howard Payne University woman's soccer team triumphed over Texas College with a 5-0 victory, with sophomore forward
Madison Marzullo finding the back of the net for her first colligate goal to cap off HPU's win.
Howard Payne's defense held the Texas College Horns scoreless throughout the whole match, only allowing two total shots.
The Lady Jackets led the game 43-2 in total shots, and 24-1 in shots on goal. Lady Jacket Junior
Lesly Garcia led the team with five shots and four shots on goals and a pair of goal.
Kate Van Wyk was able to secure the 1-0 lead in the 23rd minute on a
Emily Munoz assist.
The Lady Jackets added four more goals in the second half of the match.
Lesly Garcia scored on an assist by
Jayde Miyamoto in the 52nd minute,
Mariah Gonzales scored on an assist from
Marisah Mata in the 60th minute,
Lesly Garcia later added another goal on an assist from
Kara Moore, and
Madison Marzullo scored on an assist by
Carly Person.
Howard Payne is now 4-3-1 overall, while Texas College is now 0-7-1 for the year. The Lady Jackets will play at home on Thursday Sep 26th in a 2:00 pm match versus UT Dallas at Citizen Nation Bank Field.
