Marshall, Texas - The Howard Payne Volleyball Club dropped two matches on Friday afternoon against American Southwest Conference East opponents East Texas Baptist and Belhaven University by the scores of 3-0 and 3-1.

East Texas Baptist took care of the Jackets 25-14, 25-15 and 25-21. The Lady Jackets came close to forcing a fourth set, but came up just short. Ciara Chappel led the charge with 5 kills followed by Canyon Hughes' 4, Logan Boyd logged 6 assists while Kylee Shirley tallied 8 digs in the loss.

In their second match of the night, the Lady Jackets eyed the Blazers of Belhaven. The Blazers snuck by in set one 25-23, but the Lady Jackets answered by taking set two 25-17. Belhaven turned up the defense in the third set, only allowing HPU to score 9 in a 25-9 set loss. Then the Blazers took the match with a 25-21 victory in set four.

Mya Ross led all Lady Jacket scorers with 10 kills. Kennedy Sam added 11 assists next to Logan Boyd's 10, and Daisy Flores posted 13 digs in front of Kylee Shirley's 12. 

The Lady Jackets fall to 2-12 on the season but look to jump back into the win column with a rematch against the Wilcats of Louisiana College tomorrow afternoon. First serve is at 2:00 pm in Marshall.
