ABILENE, Texas - Howard Payne University's 
Bria Neal posted her first double double of the season in an 81-62 loss to Hardin-Simmons University Saturday afternoon in non-conference action.
HPU's 
Bria Neal recorded 18 points along with 10 rebounds versus Hardin-Simmons. Neal was 6-for-7 at the free-throw line and also added two steals for the Lady Jackets.
The Lady Jackets jumped out early lead holding an 18-12 advantage at the end of the first quarter. It would be a 35 point second quarter for Hardin-Simmons that would lead to a 44-29 halftime lead and ultimately be the difference in the game.
HPU played the Cowgirls even the rest of the way but fell in the end 81-62 after being out rebounded 46-36 in the game.
The Lady Jackets held the Cowgirls to just 28% shooting from the three-point line but did not manage any better themselves shooting 28% from behind the arc and 35.8% from the field overall.
Following Neal's double double for HPU was Mackenzy Mounton with eight points and five rebounds. 
Chelsey Harris grabbed six rebounds.
HSU was led by Hallie Edmondson with 19 points and Samantha Tatum with 17 points.
Howard Payne is now 0-3 overall and Hardin-Simmons stands at 4-0 on the year. The Lady Jackets will play next on Saturday, Dec. 12th at home versus conference opponent Sul Ross State University at 1:00 pm.
