BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne University men's tennis team secured its first win of the 2020 team tennis season in a 5-4 victory over Texas Lutheran University Saturday afternoon at the Nabers Tennis Center.

The Yellow Jackets started the day by taking two of the three doubles points. In number one doubles, Dominic DeNardo and Ben Blanchard won 8-2 and Hunter Green and Micah Hunter won 8-3 in number three doubles action.

The Yellow Jackets secured singles wins in the number two, four, and five spots to claim the match 5-4.

Gabe Benitez won 6-1, 6-0 in number two singles. Micah Hunter won 6-2, 1-6, 6-1 in number four singles and Hunter Green won 7-6 (7-3), 6-3 in number five singles action.

The Yellow Jackets will play next on Sat., Feb. 15th in Hobbs, NM versus the Univ. of the Southwest. It will be a 10:00 am start time.
