LONGVIEW, Texas- The Howard Payne University women's basketball team fell 72-62 to LeTourneau University Saturday afternoon in conference play.

Bria Neal led the Lady Jackets a double-double that included a game-high 24 points and 14 rebounds.

The Lady Jackets trailed 22-14 after one-quarter of play, but tied things up late in the second quarter and trailed by only three at the halfway mark.

HPU fell behind by 12 midway through the third quarter but managed to cut the YellowJackets lead to seven, making the score 53-46 heading into the final 10 minutes of play.

The Lady Jackets got within three points with just over one minute left in the game but could not top the YellowJackets, dropping the road match 72-62.

Bria Neal led the way with 24 points and 14 rebounds, followed by Chelsey Harris with 18 points, seven rebounds, and four assists.

With today's loss, the Lady Jackets fall to 2-5 overall and 1-3 in American Southwest Conference action. The YellowJackets improve to 5-1 overall and 2-0 in conference play.

Howard Payne will play Sul Ross State on Thursday, Dec. 9th, at 5:30 PM in the Brownwood Coliseum.
