BROWNWOOD TX – The Howard Payne University men's tennis team went 0-2 Thursday with a 3-6 loss against University of the Southwest (N.M.) and a 0-9 loss against LeTourneau University.
University of the Southwest Match
Thursday morning, the Yellow Jackets took on University of the Southwest falling 3-6.
Yellow Jackets
Dominic DeNardo and
Landon Ferree fought hard, falling short 6-8 in number one doubles. In number two doubles,
Micah Hunter and
Hunter Green lost 7-9 in another tight match.
HPU's
Ashton Stevens won 6-3, 6-2 in number three singles, defeating Daniel Correa.
Dominic DeNardo had a major comeback, for the Jackets falling short of the win in number two singles, losing 1-6, 7-6(9-11).
LeTourneau University Match
Thursday afternoon, the Yellow Jackets took on LeTourneau University falling 0-9.
HPU's
Alexander Shelton and
Ashton Stevens fell short 4-8 in number three doubles to Miles Grubbs and Jonah McGinty.
Ashton Stevens fought hard in number three singles, losing 1-6, 4-6 to Nathan Schmidt of LeTourneau. HPU's
Micah Hunter lost 0-6, 3-6 to Julian Lee in number one singles.
The Yellow Jackets will play again Friday, February 26
th at 12:00 pm in Brownwood, Texas versus East Texas Baptist University.
