RICHARDSON, Texas- The Howard Payne University softball team beat UT Dallas in double header on Friday evening 3-0 and 4-0.
The Lady Jackets out hit the Comets 18-8 in the double header which included a home run by
Alexis Sullivan for Howard Payne.
Game One
Howard Payne got on the board in the second inning. Kylie Persons reached first base on a fielding error by the short stop and scored Reagan Noriega. The Lady Jackets went on to score one run in the third and fourth innings to make the score 3-0. The Comets were unable to get on the board.
Aurora Luera,
Deandra Longoria, and
Tori Muro each had two hits for the Lady Jackets. Kylie Person and Reagan Noriega had 1 RBI each.
HPU'sÂ
Bree Cason pitched all seven innings and recorded the win allowing no runs on three hits.
Game Two
The Lady Jackets wasted no time getting on the board, scoring on an
Alexis Sullivan single in the first inning of game two of the double header. Howard Payne Scored two runs in the second inning to make the score 3-0.
Alexis Sullivan hit her second homerun of the season in the fifth inning to increase HPU's lead.
Alexis Sullivan had two hits and two RBI.
Aurora Luera also had two hits
HPU'sÂ
Tia Campos pitched all seven innings and recorded the win allowing no runs on five hits.
The Lady Jackets move to 5-1 over all and 2-0 in conference play. UT Dallas falls to 0-7 overall and 0-2 in conference play. The two teams will finish the series on Saturday Feb. 27th at 12:00 pm.Â
