BROWNWOOD, Texas – The Howard Payne University women's soccer team fell 2-1 to Sul Ross State University this morning in the first conference game of the season at Citizens National Bank Field.
The Lady Jackets were able to hold the Lobos until the 32
nd minute of the game, making it a 1-0 score. At the 33
rd minute, freshman
Alexandria Barnett was able to score with an assist by freshman
Emily McClendon making it a tied game.
The Lady Jackets fell behind in shots 14-11.
Alexandria Barnett, and
Marisah Mata each recorded three shots on goal but would not be able to secure the win in the 2-1 final.
HPU's
Delaney Castor played all 90 minutes in goal, recording six saves.
Howard Payne Lady Jackets are now 0-2 overall and will be traveling to Hardin Simmons University in Abilene, Texas for their next match on Thursday, March 4
th at 7:30 P.M.
