ABILENE, Texas- The Howard Payne University softball team went 1-1 on Friday afternoon, falling 7-0 to the University of Saint Thomas and defeating Centenary College of Louisiana 9-0.

Game one

The Lady Jackets were outhit 5-12 and scored zero runs.

St. Thomas scored four runs in the third inning, and Howard Payne was unable to answer, dropping the first game of the day 7-0.

Hannah Morales was the starting pitcher for the Lady Jackets. Morales pitched two innings, allowing three runs on six hits.

Game two 

Howard Payne outhit St. Thomas 13-5 that included a home run by Kayla hill and a double by Alexis Sullivan.

Howard Payne had a huge fourth inning scoring seven runs to take a 7-0 lead.  

Kayla hill hit a two-run home run in the top of the seventh inning for Howard Payne. Centenary was unable to answer, giving the Lady Jackets the 9-0 victory.

Alyssa Corpus went 2-for-4 at the plate and had 2 RBI for the Lady Jackets follow by Zaleigh Perez went 2-for-3 at the plate.

Tia Campos pitched all seven innings and recorded the win for the Lady Jackets. Campos allowed no runs on five hits and struck out five. 

Howard Payne finishes the week 2-1 and are now 9-4 overall and 4-2 in conference play. The Lady Jackets will play Belhaven in a three-game series on March 19-20 in Jackson, Mississippi.
