JACKSON, Mississippi- The Howard Payne University softball team dropped the last game of the series to Belhaven University 2-1.
The yellow jackets got on the board first, scoring on an
Alyssa Corpus double that plated
Tori Muro.Â
Trouble came in the fifth inning when the blazers scored two runs to take the 2-1 lead. HPU was unable to answer, dropping the game and losing the series 1-2.
Aurora Luera,
Tori Muro, and
Alyssa Corpus each had one hit for the Lady Jackets.
Tia Campos (4-4) recorded the loss pitching all six innings and allowing two runs on seven hits.
Howard Payne is now 10-6 overall and 4-3 in conference play. Belhaven stands at 15-5 overall and 7-2 in the conference. The Lady Jackets will be back at home to take on Louisiana College on March 26th and 27th.
