BROWNWOOD, Texas- The Howard Payne University softball team split a double-header with Louisiana College 3-2 and 1-2 on Friday afternoon at Lady Jacket Park.

Game One
The Lady Jackets got off to a quick start, scoring one run in the first inning. Aurea Luera tripled to center field and then scored on an error by the right fielder.

Louisiana College tied the game 1-1 in the fourth inning. Zaleigh Perez hit a home run in the bottom of the fifth inning to give Howard Payne back their lead.

The Wildcats scored in the sixth inning to once again tie the game. Alexis Sulivan singled to right field in the bottom of the seventh to plate Aurora Luera and win the game 3-2 in walk-off fashion.

Aurora Luera went 3-for-4 at the plate for the Lady Jackets. Alexis Sullivan went 2-for-4 with 1 RBI.

Tia Campos (5-4) pitched all seven innings and recorded the win for the Lady Jackets. Campos allowed two runs on eight hits and struck out five.

Game two
The Lady Jackets got on the board first, scoring on an Alexis Sullivan double in the first inning. The Wildcats tied the game in the third inning.

Louisiana College took the lead in the sixth inning, and Howard Payne was unable to answer, dropping the second game 2-1.

Alexis Sullivan went 2-for-3 at the plate and had 1 RBI. 

Bree Cason (4-2) recorded the loss, pitching seven innings, allowing two runs on six hits, and striking out six.

Howard Payne is now 11-7 overall and 6-5 in conference play. Louisiana College moves to 9-11 on the season and 4-4 in the conference. Both teams will finish out their weekend series with a single game on Saturday at 11 am.
