BROWNWOOD, Texas- The Howard Payne University Softball team dropped a doubleheader to Concordia University Texas 5-3 and 1-0 on Friday afternoon at Lady Jacket Field.
Game One
Howard Payne gave up four runs in the first inning but only allowed one more run in the last six innings. The Lady Jackets got on the board in the third inning.

HPU was down 5-1 going into the bottom of the ninth inning. The Lady Jackets were able to score two runs, but their rally came up just short.
Aurora Luera went 2-for-3 at the plate and scored one run. Kylie Persons and
Deandra Longoria had one hit each.
Bree Cason (4-6) recorded the loss, pitching seven innings and allowing five runs on 11 hits. Cason struck out three.
Game Two
Howard Payne and Concordia were scoreless until the sixth inning when the Tornados took the 1-0 lead.Â
The Lady Jackets were unable to score, dropping the game 1-0.
Kylie Persons went 1-for-2 at the plate for HPU.
Tia Campos (6-10) recorded the loss pitching seven innings and allowing one run on five hits. Campos struck out five.
Howard Payne falls to 12-18 on the season and 7-16 in conference play. Concordia improves to 22-11 overall and 16-7 on the season. The two teams will finish out the weekend series tomorrow at 12 pm.
