BROWNWOOD, Texas- The Howard Payne University Volleyball team lost 3-1 to non-conference opponent Austin College Tuesday evening in the Brownwood Coliseum.
The first set was close, with Howard Payne trailing most of the way. The set was tied 18-18 when Austin College went on a 7-0 run to claim the victory.
HPU dropped the second set 25-15. The Lady Jackets fell behind 20-16 in the third set and went on a 9-3 run to force a fourth set.
Howard Payne could not keep the momentum going and lost the fourth set 25-17 and dropped the match 3-1.
Mya Ross led the Lady Jackets with 12 kills, followed by
Amaya Marshall with nine.
Abbie Knepper and
Carsyn Bilbrey added two blocks each. Riley Brittain had 19 assists, followed by
Kaitlyn Elsten with 15.
Victoria Smith led the 'Roos with 16 kills. Brooklyn Talley had 18 assists.
The Lady Jackets will be back at home on Friday, Sept. 24th to take on conference opponent LeTourneau University at 6 PM in the Brownwood Coliseum.
