BROWNWOOD, Texas – The Howard Payne University athletic department today announced the hiring of
Kailey Anderson as head softball coach.

Coach Anderson comes to Howard Payne after a playing career at Louisiana Tech and Texas Women's University, and helping guide successful travel and instructional programs.
"We are excited to have Coach Anderson lead our softball program," said
Hunter Sims, director of athletics. "Coach Anderson is extremely dedicated and passionate about her faith and softball. She is a great addition to HPU. We are ecstatic to have her serve as the new Head Softball Coach."

After finishing her bachelor's degree, Kailey remained active in her local softball community. She hosted and conducted fielding camps known as Kailey's Kamps. At the camps, softball players of all ages received high-level training and instruction.

Kailey also played a considerable part in travel ball teams coaching groups from the age of 12 up to 18. In her earlier years, she grew up through the Texas Glory organization and has spent her time giving back to them through coaching and instruction.

"Becoming the Lady Jackets' next head coach was by faith and belief that God's plan for me begins at Howard Payne University," said
Kailey Anderson. "I have the desire to grow young women into leaders to set examples in their communities. I am thankful that Howard Payne has given me this opportunity to serve."

As a player, Coach Anderson was a member of Louisiana Tech's Softball Team from 2017-2020. There she was named to C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll 2018.

While at La Tech, the team was C-USA Conference Champion 2019 and made an NCAA Regional appearance at LSU in 2019.

Kailey was a four-year letter winner at Mesquite High School in Mesquite, Texas, leading the Skeeters to the state playoffs three years, a District 10-6A title in 2015, Bi-district titles in 2015 and 2016, and to the 10-6A area final in 2016. As a 4-time First-team All-District selection, she was All-DFW Metroplex in 2014, 2016 and 2017, and the District 10-6A Defensive Player of the Year in 2016.

Kailey has been actively involved with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) and is also a member of Antioch Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church.
