BROWNWOOD, Texas – The Howard Payne University women's basketball team was led by
Bria Neal's game-high 25 points in a 74-60 Lady Jacket loss to LeTourneau University Thursday evening in the Brownwood Coliseum.
Howard Payne outscored LeTourneau 38-25 in the second half but it was not enough to overcome LeTourneau's first half lead.
LeTourneau hit nine first half three-pointers and shot over 50% from the field to hold a 49-22 advantage at the break.
HPU shot over 40% from the field in the second half and held LeTourneau 33.5% shooting to close out the game.
Bria Neal led HPU with a game-high 25 points and 11 rebounds.
Lily Janek finished with nine points and eight rebounds.
Salina Ali added eight points and a game-high seven assists and three steals.
Catlyn Ward also recorded eight points in the game.
LETU was led by Malacia Guy with 23 points and Keauna Whitfield with 19 points and seven assists.
Howard Payne is now 4-13 overall and 2-10 in American Southwest Conference action. LeTourneau stands at 8-4 overall and 5-2 in league play. The Lady Jackets will play next at home on Saturday at 1:00 pm versus the University of Texas at Dallas.
