BROWNWOOD, Texas – The Howard Payne University men's basketball team fell 100-89 to McMurry University Saturday afternoon at the Brownwood Coliseum.
Howard Payne was led by
Myles Brown with a season-high 21 points with seven rebounds.
Armonie Ramey followed with 19 points and six rebounds.
Miles Koehler finished with 13 points and three assists.
With McMurry leading 37-36 at the half, the War Hawks outscored the Yellow Jackets 63-53 in the second period. McMurry shot 54.5% from the field in the second half.
Both teams pulled down 44 rebounds and recorded 17 turnovers. McMurry held the advantage in points off turnovers 27-16.
Remy Minor led McMurry with 25 points with Elias Garcia adding 16 points. CJ LeBlanc recorded 13 points and eight assists.
Howard Payne is now 2-7 overall and 0-4 in American Southwest Conference action. McMurry stands at 2-7 on the year, 2-2 in league play. The Jackets will play next week on the road at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor on Thursday at 7:30 pm.
