BELTON, Texas – The Howard Payne University men's basketball team fell 87-65 at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Thursday evening at the Mayborn Campus Center.
The Yellow Jackets were led by
Jerren Godfrey with 13 points on 3 of 5 three-point shooting.
Miles Koehler finished with 10 points.
Armonie Ramey dished out five assists,
Myles Brown had eight points, and
Harold Myart added seven points and six rebounds.
UMHB shot 51.5% from the field in the first half to hold a 43-25 halftime advantage.
Howard Payne would be able to cut the UMHB lead to 12 points with just under 10 minutes to play in the game but a run by the Cru extended their lead back to 20.
The Yellow Jackets did have their best free-throw shooting night of the season making 16 of 17 (94.1%) at the charity stripe.
The Cru was led by Luke Feely with 16 points followed by Gibson Hearne with 15 points.
Howard Payne is now 2-8 overall and 0-4 in American Southwest Conference. UMHB stands at 4-3 overall and 2-2 in league play. The Yellow Jackets will be at Concordia University Texas on Saturday. It will be a 3:00 pm start time.
