BELTON, Texas – Howard Payne University's
Bria Neal led the Lady Jackets with 16 points in an 88-51 conference loss at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Thursday at the Mayborn Campus Center.
Bria Neal's 16 points were sparked by 10 of 10 free-throw shooting.
Trynadee Greenwell followed with 10 points for the Lady Jackets. Anna Beamesdefer added nine points and six rebounds for HPU.
Mary Hardin-Baylor jumped out to a 12-0 lead to start the game and led 21-7 at the end of the first quarter.
After trailing 41-17 at the half, the Lady Jackets would score 20 points on 57.1% shooting in the third quarter. UMHB from that point scored 26 fourth-quarter points to secure the 88-51 final.
With 30 HPU turnovers, UMHB led in points off turnovers 34-8. The Lady Jackets forced 15 Cru turnovers.
UMHB was led by Arieona Rosborough with 18 points followed by Kirsten Zaruba with 16 points.
Howard Payne is now 2-9 overall and 0-5 in American Southwest Conference. UMHB stands at 6-1 overall and 3-1 in league play. The Lady Jackets will be at Concordia University Texas on Saturday. It will be a 1:00 pm start time.
