BROWNWOOD, Texas – The Howard Payne University men's basketball team dropped a home conference game 82-63 to Hardin-Simmons University Thursday evening at the Brownwood Coliseum.
The Yellow Jackets were led by
Armonie Ramey and
Myles Brown with 12 points each. Each had two assists.
Miles Koehler added 10 points on 5 of 6 shooting.
Steven Buhl and
Deshon Shorter each had five rebounds. Buhl recorded two block shots.
The Jackets managed just 34.3% shooting in the first half while the Cowboys connected on 52.9% of their shots.
With the Cowboys leading 46-30 at the half, the Jackets would shoot better from the field in the second period (48%) but fell in the end 82-63.
Hardin-Simmons was led by Steven Quinn with 25 points followed by Will Bartoszek with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Howard Payne is now 2-6 overall and 0-3 in American Southwest Conference while Hardin-Simmons improves to 4-4, 2-2 in league play. The Jackets will take on McMurry University on Saturday at home. It will be a 3:00 pm start time.
