AUSTIN, TEXAS – The Howard Payne University Lady Jacket softball team lost two games to Concordia, University to open the 2022 season this evening 1-5, and 3-8.
Game One
The Concordia Tornadoes started hot scoring three runs in the first inning off of two Lady Jackets fielding errors.
The Tornadoes scored one run in the fourth inning, and one more in the sixth.
The Lady Jackets put one run one on the board in the seventh inning with help from a sac bunt by
Kiley Persons. The Lady Jackets were unable to score again dropping the first game of the series 1-5.
Game Two
The Lady Jackets battled with Concordia up till the third inning when they were able to put two on the board against CTX with help from freshman Madison Cason and sophomore
Brianna Lopez.
HPU's two errors in the bottom of the third inning allowed Concordia to tie up the game at 2-2.
HPU scored their third run in the fourth inning, making it a 3-2 lead for the Lady Jackets.
CTX put up two runs in the fourth inning, and four more in the sixth. The Lady Jackets were unable to answer, losing the game 3-8.
Patricia Davilla went 2-for-3 at the plate and had one RBI for the Lady Jackets.
The Lady Jackets will face Concordia for the last game of the series, this Saturday, February 12th at 12 noon.
