AUSTIN, Texas - The Howard Payne University softball team fell 12-1 in its series finale at Concordia University Texas Saturday afternoon in conference action.
Howard Payne committed four errors in the game leading to 12 Concordia runs on 13 hits.
Concordia scored six runs in the bottom of the first inning to take the lead early in the game. The Lady Jackets did respond in the top of the second with their only run of the game.
After HPU's
Samantha Cantu reached on a double to left field, two batters later a
Deandra Longoria sac fly to center field would score Cantu.
Concordia scored single runs in the second and third innings and then a four-run fourth secured the 12-1 final in five innings.
Maddison Cason was 2-for-2 at the plate for the Lady Jackets. Along with Cantu and Longoria's hits,Â
Kiley Persons would also recorded a hit for HPU.
Isabella Buckley went just .2 innings in the start for HPU allowing six runs on five hits.
Bree Cason threw the final 3.1 innings allowing six runs on eight hits and striking out two.
The Lady Jackets will play next at home Feb. 18-19 versus Hardin-Simmons University. It will be a double-header on Friday starting at 1:00 pm and then a single on Saturday starting at 12 noon.
