BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne University women's tennis team dropped two non-conference matches this weekend both 9-0 to the University of the Southwest and Western New Mexico University.
USW Match
Playing with just five players, the Lady Jackets would start the match down 2-0 not filling the number three doubles and number six singles matches.
HPU's number one doubles team ofÂ
Lexie Nave and
Zoe Sprayberry played their opponents tough falling 8-6. HPU fell in number two doubles 8-1 and in number three by default.
The most competitive singles match were in the number one and five spots for the Lady Jackets.
Nave fell 6-2, 6-3 in number one singles and
Trinity Johnson lost 6-3, 6-3 in number five singles action.
WNMU Match
Again the number one doubles team of Nave and Sprayberry faired the best falling 8-3, HPU dropped the number two doubles match 8-1 and the number three by default.
The Lady Jackets would drop all the singles points in straight sets and the number six singles by default.
The Howard Payne women are now 0-4 overall and will play next on Feb. 25th at Texas Lutheran University in Seguin, Texas. It will be a 12 noon start time.
